He was a member of the LaFayette First United Methodist Church.
Jim was also a member and a former president of the LaFayette Lions Club.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald L. (Rosalie) Powelson and James A. Powelson; grandchildren, Kelly (Matthew) McMillan, Sarah (Frankie) Arthur, and Jeremy Powelson; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the LaFayette City Cemetery with Rev. Randall Massengill and Bro. Malcolm Harris officiating.
Pallbearers will be Doug Ingram, Terry Thompson, Matthew McMillan, Frankie Arthur, James Mullis, and Andy Arnold.
Family will welcome family and friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 25, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to the LaFayette First United Methodist Church at 301 South Main St, LaFayette, GA 30728.
Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
