James Prifer Obituary

James "Jim" R. Prifer, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025, in Harrisburg. Born on January 2, 1934, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Jim was the son of the late William Henry and Alice Elizabeth (Gately) Prifer. He graduated from Harrisburg Catholic High School (now Bishop McDevitt) in 1953 and went on to build a long and successful career in commercial insurance. With a strong work ethic and a gift for connecting with people, Jim opened and operated his own insurance firm for more than a decade before partnering with Enders Associates, where he worked with pride until his retirement. Beyond his career, Jim had a lifelong passion for all sports, especially--golf. Time spent on the golf course brought him happiness and many cherished friendships. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Patricia "Pat" (Keefer) Prifer; daughters, Robin Feathers of Hummelstown and Kim Peck (Terry) of Carlisle; his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his son, James "Jim" D. Prifer; grandson, David J Prifer; great-grandson, Brayden J Prifer; Son-in-law, Stephen "Steve" C. Feathers; brothers, William "Tiny" Prifer and John "Jack" Prifer; and sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Kershner. A viewing and Mass will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Patrick Cathedral, 212 State Street, Harrisburg. Family and friends are invited to a public viewing from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., followed by the funeral Mass at 4:00 P.M., officiated by Father Joshua R. Brommer. Interment will take place, privately, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 6701 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to Bethesda Mission or to a charity close to your heart. Jim's legacy will live on in the lives of those he loved and the countless memories shared over his 91 wonderful years.

Condolences to the family for the loss of Jim. We played basketball together at the YMCA and our league that we created the, central penn league. and on one occasion went to reservoir Park and there was a group of players already there and we decided to pick up sides. Somebody said you two cannot be on the same side it won´t be fair. Good memory.

It was my pleasure to know Jim. He was always a gentleman with tons of insight and experience in life in general. So kind and a great role model to our team at Enders. We had lunch a few weeks ago and I thanked him for the 1000th time for being a great mentor to all of us but specifically Bryan Fischer!

I was blessed to work with Mr. P for many years. He was a dear friend and he loved talking with me about the Rollers. I'll always remember his wit and wisdom. May his memory be eternal.
