James W. Provost

James W. Provost, 68, of Sheila Avenue, Plattsburgh, passed away on March 16, 2026 at UVHN-CVPH Medical center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Plattsburgh on September 18, 1957, the son of Victor and Gertrude (Bell) Provost.

James retired from Imperial Mill and was a Rural Letter Carrier for Morrisonville, for 32 years. He enjoyed interactions with all of his customers on his postal route.

He lived to hunt every year, from the time he was 21 until 2 years ago with his best friends, Steve and Yogi. He always enjoyed his time away hunting downstate. He loved to spend time working on projects such as remodeling the home and traveling to far away places. But his biggest interest was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Neva(Katz) Provost . Brothers Daniel Provost, Kevin Provost, Gary and Perry Provost, Rodney and Rae Provost and Sister-in-law Sharon Provost. Children Ben and Jessica (Nunn) Provost, Kenneth Provost, Jeffrey Provost, Ronnie and Kelly (Burke) Katz, Joshua Outen, and Savannah Morgan (DJ Williams).

He had many grandchildren (21) and 5 great grandchildren. He had an amazing love for his Sansa, the two were best friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Victor Provost and mother Gertrude Provost, His sister, Cheryl Provost -Daniels, Brother, Carl Provost and son, Westley Outen.

Calling hours will be held on Monday March 23, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday March 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville, Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Outreach Center in Treadwell Mill.
