ELLSWORTH

James E. "Jim" Pruitt, 84, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025 at his home in Ellsworth, KS. He was born December 26, 1940 in Ellsworth to Alfred and Dorothy (Johnson) Pruitt. Jim married Pauline "Peggy" Galloway in Kanopolis August 5, 1961, and they were married for 52 years. He worked for Western Auto and Maytag in Ellsworth. He then spent 31 years working for Northern Natural Gas in Bushton, Ks. He also proudly served over 30 years with the Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Department, serving as Fire chief for several of those years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson, KS.

Jim is survived by his sons, Joe Pruitt, wife Diana of Bennington, KS and Damon Pruitt of Ellsworth; bonus daughter Megan Williams of Philadelphia; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; as well as sisters, Lois Williams of California and Maudie Novotny, husband Don of Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy; son James, Jr.; and twelve siblings.

A graveside memorial service will be announced at a later date.
