James M. Quinton, Sr., 89, of Warwick died Wednesday January 7th at the Greenwood Center. He was the husband of the late Theresa A. (Rathjen) Quinton.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Eugene and Mary (Sullivan) Quinton, he had been a Warwick resident for the past fifty-eight years. Mr. Quinton was a stockbroker for over fifty years. He began his career on the New York Stock Exchange and worked at various firms before retiring from Barrett & Company. He served honorably in the United States Coast Guard and was a longtime member of Warwick Country Club.

He leaves two sons, Kenneth J. Quinton (Debra) and Keith F. Quinton (Lori-Ann) of Warwick. He was the brother of Dolores Sapelly of Somerset, MA, and the late Russell Quinton. He was the grandfather of Kalia Quinton, Andrew Hallam, Samantha Hallam, James Kyle Dorsey, and Honor Meunier, and the great-grandfather of four. He was the father of the late James M. Quinton, Jr. and Deborah L. Quinton.

His funeral will be Tuesday at 9 AM from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, at 10 AM. Calling Hours Monday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter P.O. Box 9285 Warwick, RI 02889 www.friendsri.org will be appreciated. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. www.barrettandcotter.com
