JAMES QUIRKE Obituary

LIBERTYVILLE - James Michael Quirke passed away on May 9th, 2024, due to complications from\ cancer. Jim was born on February 21, 1941. He was the oldest of four children, the father of six children and grandfather to 10 grandchildren. He met his wife Bonnie through their strong faith in the Catholic church. As a couple, they lived their lives centered around the teachings of Christ. They introduced their children to the fullness of the Catholic Christian Community. Jim had a full life. He was a second- generation graduate of St. Joe's school in Libertyville. After graduating high school, Jim joined the Navy, sailing around the world. He was a dedicated father and husband. He spent countless hours at athletic and school events supporting his children. Jim enjoyed learning about his ancestry and found several documents in his research. He was always willing to share the information he found with his family. He loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren. Any opportunity to vacation with them was met with pleasure. Most recently, he was a dedicated volunteer at WSFI Catholic Radio. He is survived by his siblings: his brother, Dennis Quirke, his sisters, Maureen (Matt) Watier and Margaret (the late Lyle) Porteous. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie; by his children, Kathleen (Steve) Koushanpour, Melissa, Jim (Tara), Brian (Jennifer), Tim (Cindy), and Meghan. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Maggie, Elaine, Katie, Michael, Josie, Grace, Emily, Lizzy, Matthew, and James. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 15th, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville. Visitation will be in the Narthex of the church before the mass. Interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to either the WFSI Catholic Radio at https://wsficatholicradio.org/ or Lake County Right to Life, 100 N Atkinson Rd., Ste. 110e, Grayslake, IL 60030. Christmas is the time where more people enter heaven than any other time. At least that is what I have heard and come to believe. Your hearts are in union with Jim and the Divine Incarnate infant of Bethlehem is smiling His welcome. Be consoled in your faith as we all know Jim led a holy life of service to His Savior. God bless you all.
