James “Jesse” Rainey, 73, of Laurel, MD, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on April 11, 2024. He was born to Myrtle Donaldson and John L. Rainey in Providence, Rhode Island but grew up in Hyattsville and was well known in the area. He owned All American Arborist for 40+ years and was very dedicated to his business. He was a long-term College Park Mouse Lodge Member and won many awards playing pool. He was a dedicated grandfather and was so happy to become a great-grandfather in 2022. He had a great sense of humor and was always full of life.
He is pre-deceased by his parents: Myrtle and John Rainey and his sister Tina. He is survived by: his long-term partner: Monica Poland, his children: Richard Wagner (Lisa), Teresa “Lynn” Bernard (Wallace), and Kasey Murry, his siblings: Jerry, John, JT, Allen, Donna, and Tommy, his grandchildren: Chanta Perry (Cullen) and Zachary, and his great-granddaughter Elena Perry.
A visitation will be held at Gasch’s Funeral Home on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 10:00am and a burial at Fort Lincoln Cemetery at 12:30pm.
