James "Jim" Reynolds, 70, of White, South Dakota, died on Sunday November 30, 2025, at the United Living Community, Brookings, SD.

Jim was born in January 20, 1955 and grew up in an orphanage in California, where he found a strong sense of community among the other children. He spoke with gratitude about the lessons he learned there and the care that helped shape his life.

After high school, Jim attended college in San Francisco before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he apprenticed with a master woodworker and developed a remarkable skill in creating inlaid wood flooring with intricate carved designs. Later in life he became a semi-truck driver, a vocation that allowed him to see much of the country.

Jim lived in many places throughout his life, including California, Montana, Idaho, Minnesota, Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Dakota. In his later years he made his home in the Brookings area and became a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. He was known for his generous heart and his support of ministries in the church and wider community.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Ascension Lutheran Church, Brookings. Rude's Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
