James William Rice, 50, of Vincennes, IN, passed away at 8:33pm on January 9, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
He was born on May 21, 1974 in Troy Montana, and was later adopted by Wally Rice & Carroll Rice.
Jamie served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a Pipefitter for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #136 Union in Evansville for several years, and for the past 10 years at Vincennes University as a steamfitter/plumber. He enjoyed spending time on his boat, riding his motorcycle, and being as close to water as he could, whether it be the Wabash River or the ocean. He also enjoyed the mountains and spending time outdoors.
He loved to tease and aggravate his friends and family. His grandchildren were especially important to him, as was spending time with them. Jamie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors of Jamie include his wife, Charity Rice of Vincennes, IN; his biological father, Dennis Stone (Tena) of Troy, MT; his son, Dakotah Wright (Amanda) of Lawrenceville, IL; his step-daughters, Grace & Hope Willis both of Vincennes; his sisters, Brandi Meek (Keeley) of Lawrenceville, IL, Whitney Betts (Troy) of Hamilton, MT, and Aubrey Defosses (Charles) of Hamilton, MT; his brothers, Alex Stone (Catie) of Elko, NV, and Dennis Stone Jr. (Tanya) of San Diego, CA; his granddaughters, Kennedy Wright, Kendall Wright, and Oakleigh Willis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wally & Carroll Rice.
Visitation for Jamie will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 11:00am-2:00pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 524 Broadway St., Vincennes, IN 47591. A funeral service will be held following visitation beginning immediately at 2:00pm.
