Rock Hill, SC – James Harmon Richardson Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Clover, South Carolina, on May 26, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on December 21, 1949, in Tyler, Texas, James lived a life rich with experiences and surrounded by his family who cherished him.
James was the son of James Harmon Richardson Sr. and Blanche Elizabeth (Warpoole) Richardson. Following his education at the University of Texas, Jim followed in his father's footsteps as a member of the Plumbers Pipefitters Union and held the position of Mechanical Electrical Plumbing Coordinator in commercial construction, a role he embraced until his retirement in 2016. He was also a distinguished member of the Masons McAlester Oklahoma Lodge #9, where he fostered brotherhood and service to the community.
James's life was enriched by his many interests. He loved to travel, often taking to the open road with his RV, exploring the landscapes of America. He found great joy in camping under the stars and spending quality time with his cherished dogs. Golfing was another passion of his; he found peace on the greens, whether playing a casual round with friends or competing in friendly tournaments. A voracious reader, James could often be found lost in the pages of a good book, ready to share an inspiring story or a useful insight with those around him.
Above all, James was a family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Carol (Clements) Richardson, whose partnership was the cornerstone of his life. Together they nurtured their two daughters, Merideth Elizabeth Richardson and Margaret Jeanette Richardson, who were the pride and joy of his heart. James's legacy continues through his grandchild, Dewayne Maurice Bumphus, Jr., who brought him immense joy and fulfillment. James also had a third "daughter" he called his guardian, Nicole jones, who he loved like his own.
James Harmon Richardson Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to family and community. His kindness, humor, and gentle spirit touched the lives of so many, and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 1774 Filbert Highway, York, SC on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories in honor of a truly remarkable man.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to ASPCA continuing James's love for animals. Rest in peace, dear James. You will be missed, but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
