James David Ridges

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James David Ridges (Jim), a loving husband and father. Jim passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on May 19th, 2025, at the age of 75, after a difficult battle with Neck Cancer.
Jim was born on June 01, 1949 to Stephen Wallace Ridges and Gloria Lee Ridges in Salt Lake City, UT. He was a musician and composer, who loved life and had a gentle soul. Jim had an infectious laugh and an unmatched love for music. Jim and his band, The Nerve, won a battle of the bands in 1990. He later went on to produce an album with his band, Various Precarious, entitled Stay Well. He was also an avid golfer and proudly scored a Hole in One on hole #17 at Bonneville Golf Course. He spent many days golfing with friends in The Hack Pack.
Jim was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved, he started a successful career in printing that lasted more than 3 decades.
He met his wife, Grace Ridges, the love of his life, at the young age of just 20 and they were married shortly after. Their marriage lasted 48 years until Grace passed away in April of 2018. They had one son, Stephen David Ridges, of Sandy, UT. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his son and the life he built with his family.
Anyone who knew Jim, knew that he was the most loving father and spouse a family could ask for. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria, his father Stephen, his sister Stephanie, and his wife Grace. He is survived by his son, Stephen and his three siblings, Chris Ridges, Laura Landers and Susan Bollinger.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to their home. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 07, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The Celebration will be at Jim's home located at 3590 E 3100 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84109.
