James R. Riley Sr.

James R. Riley, Sr., 67, of York, Maine formerly of New Hampshire passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 with his loving family at his side. James was born in Cambridge February 17, 1951. He was the son of the late Attorney Francis E. "Bud" Riley, Jr and Mary V. (Dow) Riley. He grew up in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1968. James lived in York, Maine for the past year. He previously resided in Bridgewater NH on Whittemore Point for several years. James was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. He was a Lynn Police Officer retiring in 1983. He was a devoted father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. His whole world was his family he always put everyone before himself. He treasured the time he spent with his son. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was loved by many friends here in the States and in the Dominican Republic. James enjoyed boating, riding his motorcycle, reading, working with used cars as well as his frequent trips to Santo Domingo. James also loved his many faithful canine companions throughout the years who were always by his side. He leaves behind his beloved son, James R. Riley, Jr., daughter in law Susan Turner Riley of Newmarket, NH, his grandchildren, Brendon, Aiden, Delaney and two great grandchildren, Parker and Xander. Also left to remember him are his siblings, Francis "Buddy" Riley of Lynn, Suzanne Gill of Naples, FL, Patrick J. Riley of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Rosemary Riley, of Collegeville, PA, his uncle, the Reverend James H. Riley and aunt, Marion Riley, both of Lynn, sister in laws, cousins and many nieces and nephews. James's Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, 140 Lynn St. Peabody on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM. There will be a time of visitation in the Church on Tuesday starting at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lynn.
