Obituary published on Legacy.com by Klein Funeral Home - Tomball on Jan. 29, 2026.
James W. Robertson, (Jim) passed away on January 28, 2026, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born on April 7, 1929, to the late Thelma and Harden Weaver Robertson, Sr., Nashville, Tenn. His nickname was "Nick" to family and friends when he was growing up. It was "Jim" to others as he entered adulthood.
He attended grammar school in Madison, Old Hickory, and Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
Due to WWI, Jim entered the work force at age 14 on 2nd Ave, in Nashville. He attended Watkins Institute Night School in Nashville. WWII ended September 2, 1945, and the draft into the military ended. Jim enlisted in the Tennessee Air National Guard and served until his company Dobson & Co. transferred him to Bonham TX.. Jim had to resign the Tennessee Air National Guard when he left the State of TN.
Jim's mother and dad were visiting him in Texas August 1950. The Korean War had just started June of 1950, and Jim decided to return to TN to enlist in the United States Air Force. He spent four years in the Air Force but chose to return to TN to enter the business world after completing his enlistment.
Jim married Jane Hibdon 1952 while serving in the Air Force. They had three children; two daughters, Beverly Diane and Cynthia Lynn; and a son, James William II. Each of these children brought him much joy. Jim and Jane divorced after 33 years of marriage.
Jim was blessed after having several jobs, and he wound up with a Christian Family-owned business who taught him how to be successful in practicing Christian values as he pursued his career. Jim continued his business career founding his own companies focused in aviation. He bought three airplanes in a span of a short time. To avoid paying $15.00 per month tie-down fees, he partnered with three other people and bought the first two lots the Hooks family sold to outsiders. A hangar was built to house everyone's airplanes. It was decided, to limit liability, they should incorporate; thus, HMRB Inc. was founded. Jim bought the others' stock as they relocated to other cities. Jim sold HMR&B. Inc. but retained his office for several years and finally closed his office
2018. He remained active in business using a friend's conference room at the airport to conduct meetings. Jim remained active in the aviation business many years after Pearl retired. This afforded them to attend many Aviation Conferences, both domestic and internationally.
Jim vowed that he would not ever remarry. A friend introduced him to Pearl later; and she, too, had no intentions of getting married again. One night Pearl was watching Billy Graham on television and prayed to the Lord asking that He would give her someone who would love her. Amazing how God works, Jim and Pearl were married a couple of years later. They shared 41 years enjoying a beautiful life together.
