James O. Rodda, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on November 25, 2025 at Allied Services, Little Flower Manor in Wilkes-Barre. He was 99 years old.

Jim was born in Hanover Township., a son of the late Joseph J. and Violet L. Cobleigh Rodda. Although he grew up mostly in Hanover Township., he also had fond memories of the few years he spent in Millville, PA, as a young boy.

He was a graduate of Hanover High School, Class of 1943, and served in the army from April 1946 to October 1947. While he was in the service of our country, he was a member of Company 532 nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment, attaining the rank of sergeant and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, and recently, a Quilt of Valor. He was a purchasing agent and retired from Vulcan Iron Works in1993.

Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, hiking, and going on camping trips with his son, Jim. Whenever one of his children or grandchildren needed help with any household project or any assistance in solving a problem, he was always ready to lend a hand or to share his sage advice. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. He was the family touchstone and a benevolent neighbor to all who passed his way. Jim was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, 97 South Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor L. Bokar Rodda, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage; an infant sister, Marian Rodda; a brother, Dean M. Rodda; and Jim's son, James A. Rodda.

Surviving are his children, Judith A. and husband, Robert S. Gardner; Barbara J. and husband, Dean R. Welch; daughter-in-law, Barbara S. Rodda; grandsons, Dr. Joseph J. and wife, Courtney S. Rasimas; James D. Welch and James H. Rodda; and great granddaughter, Meadow A. Rasimas.

His family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated and caring staff members at Little Flower Manor for the loving care that Jim received while a resident there.

Services for Jim were held at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in Jim's memory to the Mill Memorial Library, 495 E. Main St., Nanticoke, PA 18634. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 Broad St., Nanticoke, PA.
