James Rorick Obituary

James K. Rorick, of Big Rock, IA, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at his home, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jim was born to Kenneth and Ann (Borchers) Rorick on September 4, 1941 in Muscatine, Iowa. He married Marilynn Cook in December 1963 to which 3 children were born. They later divorced. He married Marsha Fish on July 13, 1976 in Walker, Minnesota.

Jim joined the Army after high school and spent 2 ½ years stationed in Germany. Upon discharge, he went to work at the truck garage of International Harvester. He later transferred to the combine factory in E. Moline working in the machine shop. He retired from there in June of 1992.

After retirement, he and Marsha purchased a summer home in Longville, MN where they spent the next 10 years walleye fishing. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, golfing, and gardening. He always looked forward and enjoyed his many trips to Las Vegas over the years.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha, and children Kim (Randy) Kay of Wheatland; Kirk Rorick of Milton, FL and Kit Rorick of Tampa, FL. Grandchildren Jason (Emily) Kay, Nicki (Andy) Welch, Vanessa (Ryan) Caudle, and Sean (Chelsie) Rorick along with 14 great-grandchildren. Siblings, Judy (Gary) Steffens of Calamus; and Gaylon (Susan) Rorick of Davenport. Other survivors include in-laws, Barbara Biddle, Debra Fish, Tammy (Dave) Scheper, Patty Gasper, Stacy (Joe) Morrissey, and Randy (Debbie) Fish along with many nieces and nephews.

A private family burial and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Big Rock Cemetery.
