James C. Russell, 82, of Calvert City passed away at 6:30 AM on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Marshall County Hospital in Benton.
Mr. Russell retired from Kentucky Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer in Eddyville, KY, a Veteran of the Navy during the Vietnam War, and he was of the Nazarene Faith. James was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Barkley Lodge 160 in Eddyville, KY where he was a past 2nd Vice President, and he was a former Insurance Agent for National Life Insurance Company.
He is survived by two sons, James Kelly (Missy) Russell of Reidland, Gary Wayne McCullough of Nashville, TN; one daughter, Angela Joy (Jerry) Jacobson of Bossier City, LA; one stepbrother, Joseph Langmeyer of Charlotte, N.C., one half-brother, George Russell of Gastonia, N.C.; one half-sister, Collette Bridges of Cherryville, N.C.; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd Corbet Russell and Ethelyne (Robison) Harris; wife, Charlene Russell; one son, David McCullough.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah. Burial with Full Military Honor Rites will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 in his memory.
