MILLBURY, MA / Old Orchard Beach, ME – James W. Rutkauskas, 64, passed away suddenly in his home on Tuesday, May 21st.
Jim leaves his wife of 45 years, Diane (Karol) Rutkauskas; a son Jim Rutkauskas and his wife, Jenn; a daughter, Jessica Mooskian, and her husband Matthew. In addition, he leaves his three most-beloved grandsons, Warren James Mooskian (11), Desmond Matthew Mooskian (7), and Ryan Richard Rutkauskas (3); along with his cherished cat, Ramsey, and his lifelong best friend John Arnauskas.
Jim, known to most as “Big Rut” was loved by everyone, young and old. He was recognized as a fun and jolly soul who liked to make everyone laugh. He spent much of his career as a Roofing Foreman and retired after 40 years in Local 33, The Roofer and Waterproofers Union. After retirement, he took to helping his community by volunteering at St. John’s food pantry 3 or 4 days a week. He was both a cook and driver for their program. He adored helping people and giving to those in need.
Jim had dual residences, spending his time equally in his new home in Millbury and his treasured retreat in Old Orchard Beach Maine. He loved fishing, golfing, home projects, and most importantly, being the best grandfather, anyone could ask for. He loved his three boys, frequently taking them fishing, the beach, the park, lawn mower rides, or just to get a hot dog at the local convenience store. Spending his time and energy on his family was his most revered pastime.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Jim’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Wednesday, May 29th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 30th at 10 a.m. in St. John Catholic Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Jim’s name can be made to St. John’s Food for the Poor Program, 20 Temple St. Worcester, MA 01604.
