MAY'S LICK — James Calvin "JC" Schalch Jr, 59, of May's Lick, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1966, in Mason County, to James Schalch Sr. and the late Lucressie "Lou" Quesenberry Schalch. James was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kambri Washington.
Besides his dad, JC leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Angie Hendricks Schalch; a son, Daulton (Shannon) Schalch; two daughters, Brittney Schalch, Kyleigh (Adam) Webb; sisters, Rachel Roberts, Gladys (Jimmy) Johnson; brothers, Marvin (Becky) Schalch, Darrell (Kim) Schalch; grandchildren, Taryn Brooks, Kashton Washington, Keller Schalch; his mother-in-law, Janet Hendricks; and father-in-law, Donnie Hendricks.
JC worked at Brownings for 17 years and then retired from 3M after 13 years. JC's family fondly speaks of his loving devotion to family and friends. He loved music and enjoyed cooking for his family and spending time with his grandkids. JC also liked spending time working in his garden. So many will miss him dearly.
A service for JC will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Robertson County Funeral Home. Visitation will be held the evening prior, Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., also at Robertson County Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Gifford will lead services, and burial will follow at Shannon Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the Schalch family will include: Daulton Schalch, Marvin Schalch, Darrell Schalch, John Pilosky, Rex Schalch, Calvin Schalch. As honorary pallbearer, his grandson, Kashton Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
