James (Jim) Schumerth, age 94, of De Pere, passed away on February 3, 2026. The son of the late Joseph and Loretta (Ehnerd) Schumerth was born on December 17, 1931.

Jim served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army from 1951-1953. He married Eva Aerts on April 28, 1956.

A lifelong resident, he remained deeply rooted in his community and was a devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Jim led an active life enjoying baseball, golf, biking, cards, travel and family. After retiring from the Postal Service, he worked part-time for Schroeder’s Floral for 20 years. Jim and Eva wintered in Florida for many years.

He was a diehard Cubs fan!

He is survived by his children Cindy Luce, Peggy Velicer, and Andrew (Sara) Schumerth. His seven grandchildren include: Kit (Jenna) Lasee, Zackary (Iesha) Luce, Samuel (Brittany) Luce, Jenny (Luke) Weichelt, Nicholas (Julie) Schubach, Leah (Jake Hustad) Schumerth, and Dominic (Sophie Pirkey) Schumerth. He has 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He has one surviving sister-in-law, Shirley Aerts.
