James Schwab Obituary

James Patrick Schwab

July 22, 1937 - August 16, 2025

CEDAR FALLS - James Patrick Schwab, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

He was born in Floyd, IA on July 22, 1937, to Patrick J. and Esther F. (Pint) Schwab. On September 17, 1961, he was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Offen in Waterloo. Jim was a hard-working father and husband. He retired from Sears Roebuck at Crossroads Center after 37 years of dedicated service. Jim also enjoyed serving the community as the co-owner of Schwab's New and Used Furniture for 44 years. There wasn't an auction in the area that Jim would miss! He loved attending his auctions, where over the years he made many friends who shared a similar passion. Jim also served his Country in the United Stated Army stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington and then in the Army Reserves for an additional 5 years. He was a member of the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49 and the Waterloo American Legion Post #138. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, where he looked forward working the annual church rummage sale.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Cedar Falls; son Pat (Beth) Schwab of Stone Lake, WI; daughter, Cynthia Schwab of Waseca, MN; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary; and granddaughter, Lauren Schwab.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, with interment in the Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorial may be directed to the family for future designation. Online condolences at www.richardsonfuneralservice.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at NewAldaya Lifescapes and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care.
