JAMES A. SCOTT
October 5, 1941 ˜ January 28, 2024
James “Jim” Scott passed away due to complications from pneumonia. Born Oct. 5, 1941, in Vancouver, WA, to James H. and Margaret A. Scott, Jim was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Often referred to as a “man’s man,” he loved his family, outdoors, hunting, fishing and trees!
Jim is survived by his wife of 12 years, Betty of Kalama, WA; daughter-in-law, Jill Scott of Yacolt, WA; son, Jay (Judy) Scott of Battle Ground, WA; daughter, Lisa (David) Petersen of Battle Ground; stepdaughters, Amanda (Brad) Peterson of South Dakota, Emily (Tim) Swett of Kalama, WA, and Liz (Eric) Sigfridson of Kalama; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Frank (Bonnie) Scott of Ridgefield, WA.
Jim was preceded in death by Linda Scott in February 2008, his wife of 44 years; son, Shawn Scott in June 2021; granddaughter, Nicole Scott in April 2022; and his sister, Barbara (Corky d. 2008) Gould in August 2014.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Northwood Park Funeral Home, 16407 NE 15th Ave., Vancouver.
Donations may be made in Jim’s name to the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver.

My wife and I met Jim about a year and a half ago. Though our meeting marked another sad point in his life,the sale of his Treasure,
Valley View Lane. We knew it was meant to be our new home.
Our first in person meeting, after our offer was accepted, went somewhat like this, after introductions were done ( in a fashion I soon learned was Jim Scott´s way) he looked at the realtor and explained nicely that their job was essentially complete so stand aside so we could talk.
I listened to a man while facing challenges, was open honest and outspoken, qualities that I immediately admired and appreciated.
Well the deal was struck. Jim and Betty remained in the house until the end of April.
During the months Jim and I stayed in pretty regular contact. On occasion I would get a call going to be in Battle Ground, would we mind if they did a drive by, I looked forward to those visits and hoped I wouldn´t see his disappointment at changes made.
I´ll miss those drive by´s
