Mr. James Lee Scott, 69, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2025. James was born on September 21,1955 to Johnnie Scott and Louise Boone Scott.

He received his education through Northampton County Public Schools. He was baptized at Cool Spring Baptist Church at a young age.

"Pipe", as he was affectionately called by so many, was known for his strong work ethics, skilled hands, and generous heart. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to trades, taking pride in work that was both honest and practical. Whether it was plumbing, or carpentry, he believed in doing a job right and helping others whenever they were in need.

Pipe was preceded in death by his parents: Johnnie Scott and Louise B. Scott; brothers: Raymond Moody and William A. Scott; and sister: Rosalene M. Moore.

Pipe is survived by his wife: Rosa Mitchell Scott of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his son: James Tyrone Scott of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his children at heart: Rhonda Tillery Williams, Shemika Tillery, Alonzo Tillery, and Devon Tillery, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; his brother: Wilbert Earl Moody of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his sisters: Lillie Mae Boone (John) of Richmond, VA and Jacqueline Underdue (Raymond) of Garysburg, NC; one sister-in-law: Linda Mitchell; one brother-in-law: Leroy Moore; one uncle: Elaster Powell (Genetha) of Gaston, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A visitation for Mr. James L. Scott will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, located at 520 Smith Church Road, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00 PM.
