It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of James Clifford Scott, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, who left us on November 22, 2025. Born on October 15, 1948, in
Cincinnati, Ohio, James, affectionately known as "Cliff, Slick or Scotty," lived a life filled with passion, laughter, and unwavering love for his family. For 31 years, James dedicated himself to serving the City of Cincinnati through his work in the Metropolitan Sewer Department. A true handyman, there was nothing he couldn't fix, whether it was a city issue or a project at home. Beyond his work, James had a vibrant personality that drew people to him. Always one for style, he dressed to impress, making sure he stood out in a crowd. James was a passionate reader of the Word of God, and his wisdom was a guiding light to those around him. He had a knack for imparting advice, often with a hearty dose of humor. His children will fondly remember his many sayings, like
"I can't eat a piece of shit in peace" and "you aint got sense god gave a duck."
He had a way of making life lessons unforgettable. James loved to eat oranges, peanut butter and crackers. He loved softball and bowling. He loved to have long conversations. He loved photography and left behind hundreds of photos from his journey of life. An avid lover of movies, especially old cowboy westerns and classic sci-fi, he found joy in simple things. His cooking, particularly his sweet potato pies and macaroni and cheese, became legendary among family and friends. James had a deep appreciation for music, favoring gospel tunes by Smokey Norful and the sounds of Mojo 94.9, with a particular fondness for the album Euphrates River by the Main Ingredient. Above all else, James was a family man. He adored his children; Rhonda, Maurice, Jamyl, Jessyka, Joshua, Jalea, and took immense pride in his 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Everyone knew they could count on him.
The smell of his favorite cologne "Joop" and his children and grandchildren referring to him as Big Daddy Kane were all memories & experiences that came with his journey. James spent time instilling a strong foundation for life's journey, for his kids & grandchildren. If he spoke; you were listening closely when he shared his unique insights. James' journey will be honored with a series of heartfelt services.
