James Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Niles on Feb. 2, 2026.
James Edward Scott III, 55, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026, in Edwardsburg, Michigan.

James was born on January 13, 1971 in South Bend, Indiana to the late James E. Scott II and Trudy (Smith) Edwards.

Left to cherish the memory of James is his loving wife, Ellen (Maddox) Scott; children, Brandon Scott, Storm Scott, Abigale Scott, Justin Scott, and Ethan Scott, and four grandchildren.

James was a devoted family man, a steady presence, and simply a good man. He lived his life with quiet integrity and a deep sense of care for the people around him. Those who knew him will remember his kindness, his patience, and the way he showed up for others without ever needing recognition.

James enjoyed many things in life. He found comfort and fun in watching Star Trek, playing video games, spending time fishing, working with his hands through woodworking, and cooking meals to share with others. He also had a deep and abiding love for music, which brought him joy, comfort, and a lasting connection to those around him. These interests brought him happiness, but they were never as important to him as his family.

Above all else, James loved his family wholeheartedly. He took great pride in his children and had a genuine interest in what they did, always eager to listen, support, and encourage them. He celebrated their interests and accomplishments, offering guidance when needed and unwavering support at all times.

James will be remembered not for grand gestures, but for being dependable, caring, and true. His love, values, and quiet strength will live on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In keeping with James' wishes, there will be no services held at this time.

Memorial contributions in honor of James may be made out to his family in care of Brown Funeral Home to assist with the cost of cremation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
