James William Shirley, 69, of Cumming passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022. James was the world’s greatest Daddy that didn’t have to be a Daddy. A man who loved practical jokes, he loved fishing and camping. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Ann Woody Shirley; daughters, Vickie Stiles; son-in-law, Doug Latimer, parents, W.L. Shirley and Katherine Thompson Ray.
Survivors include his children, Terry and Lisa Marlow of Blue Ridge, Sherrie and Richie Heard of Cumming, Penny Latimer of Dahlonega and Gina Simonds of Cumming; grandchildren, Ashley Tejada, Melissa Stiles, Amanda Heard, Michelle Spurlock, Brittney Francis, Amy Nelson, Josh Heard, Dillion Nelson, Nathan Nelson and Madison Simonds; 11 great grandchildren; son-law, Michael Stiles; and brother-in-law, Leon and Virginia Woody.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Woody. Interment will follow at Coal Mountain Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
