James Arthur Simpson was born on November 16, 1956, in Lumberton, NC to Rudolph F. Simpson and Margarette D. Simpson. He attended Lumberton High School and began a career in over the road trucking, eventually transitioning to an Instructor in a trucking school.
Diabetes limited his life and eventually took both legs but not his vigor and vitality. He loved boating, fishing, camping and hanging out with friends. His resilience to suffering was incredible but eventually diabetes had the upper hand.
He passed on April 9, 2025, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Sturdivant. He is survived by his brother, Randy Simpson, along with his sister-in-law, Cynthia Simpson, 5 nieces, 3 nephews and their children.
A memorial is being planned for the Summer of 2025 in Lumberton, NC. Please contact Randy Simpson for further information: https://www.facebook.com/randy.simpson.3139.
