James Sindle Obituary

James Roy Sindle, 79, of Oran, was called to heaven by his Lord and Savior and reunited with the love of his life, Suzanne Sindle, on August 17, 2025.

He is survived by four daughters, Sarah (Cash) Kinney, Theresa (Joe) Shoemaker, Rebecca (Darin) Woods, and Hannah (Andy) Gadberry; by twelve grandchildren, Cashus (Lisa) Kinney, Wyatt (Alaina) Kinney, Jacob (Miranda) Shoemaker, Samuel (Kaitlynn) Shoemaker, Elijah Shoemaker, Nathaniel Woods, Cora Woods, Weston Woods, Victor Woods, Porter Gadberry, Harper Gadberry, and Fisher Gadberry. Great grandchildren; Breanna Kinney, Brylee Kinney, Bella Kinney and Walter Shoemaker with three more Great grandchildren on the way; a brother and sister Ronnie Sindle and Rena Matthews; also, many cherished nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

Besides his parents and loving wife Suzanne, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Steve and Jerry Sindle and sister, Kathy McCoy.

While serving in Vietnam, James sent a prayer to God—that if He brought him safely home, he would spend his life serving Him and raising his family to follow Christ. James remained faithful to that promise every day of his life.

Born in 1946, James lived a life marked by faith, service, and devotion to his family. In 1969, while serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, he distinguished himself by meritorious achievement in sustained aerial flight in support of combat ground forces. He actively participated in more than 25 aerial missions over hostile territory, displaying the highest order of air discipline, professionalism, and devotion to duty. His bravery and dedication brought great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

After his military service, James worked hard to provide for his family of six through careers with Western Southern and the U.S. Postal Service. He later became the proud owner of the Oran Café, where he not only served his community but also taught his daughters the values of work ethic, integrity, and service to others.

Dad, Papa, Great-Papa, and friend to so many, James lived a life rich with faith, family, and love. Above all else, he was a devoted husband to Suzanne. Together they built a marriage centered in faith, laughter, and unwavering loyalty—an example of true partnership that their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will cherish forever.

Papa’s joy came from the everyday moments—tending his garden, teaching his family how to fish and hunt, hosting cousins’ days, and cheering from the bleachers, never missing a single game or recital. He even dyed his hair to match team colors, played wiffle ball and rummy with his grandkids, and never forgot a story they told him. He was the family’s steady presence—its patriarch, its encourager, and its safe place.

Though he grew up with little, Dad gave abundantly. A woodworker, cook, fisherman, and the best fish filleter around, he was a gracious host who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Dependable and generous, he lived as a Christian, leader, and giver. His legacy will live on in every meal shared, every story remembered, and every act of kindness passed down through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Above all, James—Dad, Papa, Great-Papa—will be remembered as a faithful husband, loving father, devoted grandfather, proud great-grandfather, proud American, and man of God whose love and example will echo for generations to come.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Prayer service will be at 4:30 PM. Eucharistic celebration will be conducted on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at the Guardian Angel Church with Father Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment will be held at St. Anthony Cemetery in Glennon, Missouri.
