James Edward Slotabec

James Edward Slotabec, 51, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, in Chicago. He was born on February 27, 1974, in Joliet, IL, to James and the late Maureen (nee Hauk) Slotabec and grew up in New Lenox, IL, where he graduated from Lincoln-Way Central High School.

Known for his love of cooking, BBQ, and his passion for hot sauce, Jim often brought people together around good food and genuine hospitality. He enjoyed playing Call of Duty, where his competitive spirit and sense of fun shone through. An avid outdoorsman and enthusiast, he found joy in golfing, fishing, and riding his Harley-Davidson. A passionate football fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to follow the game and team he loved, the Washington Redskins. Above all, he treasured moments spent in the company of those closest to him, creating memories that will be dearly remembered.

For 23 years, he shared a devoted marriage with his wife, Jennifer, taking great pride in their life together.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Lynn (nee Feiner) Slotabec; his daughter, Allie Slotabec; his siblings, Laurie (Brad) Dillman, Colleen (Ted) Kersting, Bob (Brenda) Slotabec, John (Ruzilya) Slotabec, and Mike Slotabec; his nieces and nephews, Ty, Roc, Meg, Mike, Kate, Brianna, Bianca, Alec, Janaya, Austin, Zach, Jaxon, Aiden, Lukas, Haylee, and Jake. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Carol Fisher (Darwin); his sister-in-law, Chrystal Feiner King; his brothers-in-law, Steve Ganster and Adam (Brittany) Swanson; as well as his loyal canine companions, "Mila" and "Lizzy."
