James Smail Obituary
James Aaron Smail, age 44, of Iola, Kansas, passed away November 28, 2025, at his home in Iola. James was born December 14, 1980, in Iola, Kansas, to Ronald D. Smail and Deborah A. (Hawk) Smail.
James attended school in Iola. He graduated from Northeast Oklahoma Technical Center with a degree in marine mechanics.
James loved being by the water and his animals. He enjoyed travel and adventure, and he also liked spending time with his family and friends.
James had a true caregiver's heart. He loved helping and taking care of others, especially the time he spent looking after his grandparents in their later years.
James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gary and Beverly Hawk and Wayne and Vivian Smail.
James is survived by his parents; son, Alexander James Smail; step-son, Xavier Kraus; siblings, Michael (Em) Smail, Matthew (Malin) Smail, Scott Smail, Stacie (Jason Chandlee) Smail, Dacia Underwood; four nieces, and four nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Alexander Smail College Fund. Checks are to be made payable to Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Memorials may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas 66749.
