BRO. JAMES REED SMITH, was called to his heavenly home by his Lord at age 81, on Monday, November 17, 2025 at NHC Tullahoma. Bro. Smith was born on August 2, 1944, to the late Clarence Randford Smith and Eunice Hazel Johnson Smith in Tullahoma, Tenn. Bro. Smith was the Pastor of the Payne's Cove Methodist Church for 30 years. He served his Lord in the Ministry for approximately 56 years before the Lord called him home. Bro. Smith enjoyed fishing and hunting during his younger years and when his health permitted. His favorite past-time was spoiling his grandchildren. He will be remembered by all that knew him and loved him as a loving and devoted Minister of God's word and for being a wonderful father, grandfather and brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Laverne Rittenhouse Smith, son, Jimmy Prince, grandson, Kenneth Dewayne Scott and great-granddaughter, Gracelynn's Harper Gray.

He is survived by his children; Linda Scott and husband, Kenneth of Estill Springs, Tenn., James Smith and wife, Lisa of Chickamauga, Ga., Barbara Thomas and husband, Jeff of Sequatchie, Tenn., and Nathan Smith and wife, LaDonna of Tullahoma, Tenn., 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, brother, Raymond Lee Smith of East Ridge, Tenn.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 18, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services, LLC.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 19, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services, LLC with Bro. Robert Johnson, officiating.

Interment will follow services at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma with Danny Miller, Issac Martin, Peyton Martin, Brett Smith, Randy Smith, Jackie Thomas, Mikey Thomas, Elisha Thomas and Hunter Parson serving as pallbearers.
