James Arnold Smith, born January 1, 1938, departed this life December 8, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Arnold was born south of Loop, TX in Sawyer Flats to Jesse & Jimmie Smith on
January 1, 1938. Arnold graduated from Loop High School in 1956 and farmed all his adult life. He married Martha Freeman on December 23, 1958. He was a lifetime resident of Loop Texas.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse & Jimmie Smith, and brother Vester Smith.
Arnold is survived by a large loving family his wife Martha, three children: Tonya & husband Mike Moore; Sonya & husband Ruben Martinez; and Wade Smith, grandchildren: Kylia Foster; Jacky Kelly & wife Cassandra; Kolton Foster & wife Monica; Kallee Longoria; Jessica & husband Mike Kearns; and Casey Moore. Along with Great Grandchildren: Clea Kelly; Rhett & Emerson Longoria; Kashton & Karter Foster; and Morgan & Mykah Kearns.
Arnold was an avid hunter that enjoyed farming and family gatherings, but Arnold’s family was his world.
