Martha Ann Freeman Smith was born on May 5th, 1940 and passed away on December 14th 2025 leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and will miss her beyond words. To friends and family, she was known as Nana.
Above all else, Martha loved her family. They were her heart and her greatest joy. She cherished every moment spent together—laughing, talking, and making memories. She had a fun-loving spirit and a way of making time with her feel special, whether it was a big family gathering or a quiet moment shared one-on-one.
One of our favorite memories was gathering as a family to celebrate Christmas and the holidays. Martha always went above and beyond to make those moments special, making sure everyone felt loved and welcomed. The holidays were filled with delicious food, laughter, fun, and games. Her home was truly the heart of those celebrations.
Martha found happiness in the simple joys of life, especially gardening. She took pride in caring for her plants and flowers, tending to them with patience and love. Her garden was one of her happy places, just as her home was a place of comfort and love for all who entered. Her son Wade carried on this legacy as she got older and ensured her garden stayed beautiful. She was also a very gifted at sewing and making many types of clothes and was very talented at cross stitching.
Martha worked for the USPS postal service in Loop and Seagraves Texas and also owned a dress boutique shop in Seagraves Texas.
On December 23rd 1958, Martha married Arnold Smith and together they built a life centered around family, love, and togetherness.
She was preceded in death by her Husband James Arnold Smith Father, Ralph Hearne Freeman, her
Mother Chessie Lou Buck Freeman, her
Sister Alma Juanita Beal and her
Brother William Waldon "Rusty" Freeman
She leaves behind a large and loving family who will carry her memory forward: her sister Pauline Kay Currey; her children, Tonya Moore and husband Mike Moore; Sonya Martinez and husband Ruben Martinez; and Wade Smith. She was a proud grandmother to Kylia Foster; Jacky Kelly and wife Cassandra Kelly; Kolton Foster and wife Monica Foster; Kallee Longoria; Jessica Kearns and husband Mike Kearns; and Casey Moore, and a devoted great-grandmother to Clea Kelly; Rhett and Emerson Longoria; Kashton and Karter Foster; and Morgan and Mykah Kearns.
Martha’s love, laughter, and gentle presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she created—especially those around the table—will live on through the many lives she touched.
Her love will continue to guide us, comfort us, and live on through our family.
