James Smith Obituary
Born on September 1, 1939, in Guntersville, AL, to the late, Albert and Mary Kathleen Holt Smith. James was a beloved member of his community. He retired from Dyersburg Fabrics and was also a dedicated farmer. Known for his passion for coon hunting, VFCMMA Boxing, and NASCAR Racing, James truly loved life and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Calvin Smith officiating. The family will begin receiving visitors at 4 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Cremation services are under the direction of Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jamie Warden (Charles) of Finley, TN and Linda Smith (John) of Dyersburg, TN; a sister, Janie Smith of Finley, TN; two grandchildren, Samantha Rudd (Brandon) and Elisha Hall (Bryan); and three great-grandchildren, Seth Bryson, Bricelyn Rudd and Ava Pridmore.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of more than 40 years, Shirley Kelley Smith; a daughter, Renita Smith; a sister, Mary Jean Cook; and a brother, Don Allen Smith.
Memorials may be directed to Independent Free Holiness Church, 2171 Upper Finley, Road, Dyersburg, TN 38024-3700
