January 24, 1946 - January 12, 2026

James Burgess "J.B." Smith, 79, of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Charlotte, N.C., surrounded by family.

J.B. is survived by Becky, his wife of 45 years; his three sons, Jeff (Karrie), Jordan, and Cody (Vanessa); and his grandchildren, Everly and Zachary. J.B. was preceded in death by his parents, James Clay Smith and Hazel Autrey Smith.

He was a generous and loving father, a devoted husband, and he will be dearly missed.

JB was a great man. I enjoyed my time around him in the RRHBA and in the home building industry. He will be missed by many. My sincerest condolences to his family.
