James "Jim" Alford Smith has peacefully passed away on January 31, 2026, at the age of 61.

Jim was born on July 21, 1963, in Houston, Texas, to Joanne and Louis Smith. He married Shelly René Olson Gentry in Cleburne, Texas, on July 23, 2016. He loved motorcycles, and fixing anything that was broken. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being a big practical joker, also jamming out to heavy metal and playing his guitar. Playing with his fur babies made him the happiest these last few months. Roxy was his comfort and she loved him so much in return.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Joanne and Louis.

Those left to cherish Jim's memory are his wife of almost 10 years, Shelly Smith; his daughter, Chassie Smith, and his bonus daughters, Lauren and Michael Crow, Livie and David Dodson, Taylor Ballentine, and Teagan Ballentine; his bonus son, Tyler Ballentine; his sisters, Vera and Jimmy Pennington, Shannen and BoBo Truhitte; his grandkids, Kayla, Noah, Thomas, Sadie, and Blair; his nieces, Leslie Torcoletti, Lois Shores, Rebecca Lancaster, and his nephew, Kenny Shores; along with a number of great nieces and nephews, cousins, special friends, Reggie, Lori, and Richard, his fur babies, Roxy and Ivy, and many other loving family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Jim's gofundme or to the Brain Cancer Research Institute.

A bbq memorial will be announced at a later date.
