In Loving Memory of James Dirk Snyder January 9, 1955 – August 23, 2025

James Dirk Snyder, known simply as “Dirk” to those who loved him, passed away peacefully at his home, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering kindness. Born on January 9, 1955, in Casper, Wyoming, Dirk lived a life that was uniquely his own, rooted in simplicity, beauty, and a profound sense of independence.

Dirk was a man of deep convictions and gentle spirit. He never married or had children, but his life was rich with meaning and connection. He was a devoted brother, a loyal friend, and a beloved uncle. Dirk had a heart that gave freely, whether it was through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or a treasured gift. He had an eye for beauty and a soul that cherished it. From antiques to art, trinkets to treasures, Dirk was a collector of things that spoke to him, each item a reflection of his appreciation for the world’s quiet wonders.

A veteran, Dirk served his country in the Vietnam War. His love for America was steadfast, and his faith in God was the cornerstone of his life. He found peace in solitude and strength in prayer, often choosing the comfort of his own company and the presence of the divine over the noise of the world.

Dirk was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L. and Nada J. Snyder; his brother, Greg Snyder; his brother-in-law, Mike Slaymaker; and his sister-in-law, Marti Snyder. He is also reunited with many beloved aunts, uncles, and extended family who went before him.

He is survived by his siblings: Debbie Ramsey of Casper, WY; Charley Snyder of Allegan, MI; Katie Lijewski and her husband Larry of Casper, WY; John Snyder and his wife Julie of Buffalo, WY; Robert Snyder and his wife Annie of Casper, WY; and Dana’ Fernandez and her husband Paul of Rock Springs, WY. Dirk also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who will forever cherish his memory and the quiet wisdom he shared.

Dirk lived his life with dignity, never wanting to be a burden to anyone. He walked his path with grace, guided by faith, and surrounded by the beauty he so deeply loved. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Graveside services and inurnment will be held on September 6th at 10am at Highland Cemetery in Casper Wyoming.
