James Splan Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marnocha Funeral Home on Mar. 26, 2025.
James (Jim) Lee Splan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, was called home to eternal rest on March 19, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born on January 17, 1944, Jim grew up on the family farm in Anston. His early education took place in a one-room schoolhouse where he made lifelong friendships. In 1962 he graduated from Pulaski High School and went on to serve his country proudly in the Army Reserves.
On January 28, 1967, Jim married his beloved wife, Shirley Mroczkowski. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their family in Mill Center and Hofa Park, creating cherished memories across their 58 years of marriage.
Jim worked as a dedicated semi-driver for SuperValu, Inc., Teamsters Local 75, for over two decades. Known affectionately as "Farmer" on the CB radio, he made lasting friendships with his trucking community while delivering truckloads and driving the open roads.
A lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Church, Jim actively contributed to the community, volunteering at church picnics and delighting many by dealing cards and running the poker game table all in the spirit of charity.
For nearly 30 years Jim enjoyed wintering in Florida, soaking up the warm sun, fishing on the Gulf and making countless memories with visiting family. You could find him regularly at the community center playing cards and shooting pool with his many friends.
Beyond his career and faith, Jim was a man of many passions. He loved fishing and hunting, often embarking on memorable trips with his sons and friends. He was a loyal fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, always cheering on his teams in his favorite hat and sweatshirt.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley, their three sons; Dwayne (Yvonne), Darrell (Kari), and Doug; nine grandchildren; Aly Saari (Aaron), Aaron Splan (MaKayla), Anna Splan (Wyatt), Taylor Splan (Jena), Hayley Splan (RJ), Hayden Splan, Michael Splan (Annika), Karli Paape (Ryan) and Bryce Splan. He is further survived by four great grand-children; Skylar Splan, Callum Splan, Reid Saari and Catherine Splan.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and William Splan; his sister, Judy James; his cherished daughter, Karri Splan; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Emily Mroczkowski, nephew Dean James, aunts and uncles.
A private celebration of Jim's life will take place at St. Stanislaus Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jim's name to Syble Hopp School, a cause close to the family's heart.
Jim's warmth, humor, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him. His memory will be cherished, and his legacy carried on by the family he held so dear.
