James Spurgeon Obituary
James (Spunky) Leonard Spurgeon Jr., 63, of Sweetwater, Tennessee, passed away on November 7, 2024. He was born on December 15, 1960 in Sweetwater to James and Ellen (Holder) Spurgeon Sr. He was a truck driver and liked to be referred to as a "Driving Specialist".
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was type of person who was always there for everyone. He was an amazing father and papaw and had a great personality.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen (Holder) Spurgeon and a son, James (Spanky) Spurgeon.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Spurgeon; daughters, Julia Spurgeon and Amanda (Dustin) Akens; grandchildren, Isaiah Akens, Jacob Akens, Laura Willett, Emma Spurgeon, Blake Hutsell, Olivia Spurgeon, Karlie Mae; father, James Spurgeon Sr.; brothers, Eddie Spurgeon and Randy Spurgeon.
Services will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Companion Funeral & Cremation Services, 400 S. White St., Athens, TN 37303 with burial at Forkner Chapel Cemetery, Sweetwater, TN. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Wednesday.
