James Rubin Spurgeon, 73, of Seminole, Texas passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Denver City, Texas.
Born on March 1, 1952, in Friona, Texas to Bonnie and Joe Spurgeon. He began his career in the oil and gas industry with Acid Engineering in Denver City, Texas, and later owned and operated Indian Fire and Safety in Hobbs, NM and Denver City, Texas which he successfully ran until selling the business to DXP.
James is survived by his children; Chris (Mandy) Spurgeon, Joe (Brittanee) Spurgeon, Hunter Spurgeon, Tanner (Ana) Spurgeon, Tyler Spurgeon; seventeen grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bonnie Spurgeon, his son, Jason Shawn Spurgeon, brother, Michael Spurgeon, and sisters, Betty Jo Trantham and Ernestine Thomas.
James will be deeply missed but his generosity and fun-loving nature will remain in our hearts.
