James Gregory Stackable, 79, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Charles F. George VA Medical Center in Asheville.
Mr. Stackable was born on March 27, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Robert Vincent Stackable and Alice Elizabeth Metevier Stackable.
He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church. He was skilled in artistic crochet and enjoyed spending time with his family, to whom he was very devoted.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Ann Stackable; and a brother, Robert Stackable.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Pamela Stackable; seven children, Patricia L. Swofford (William), James M. Stackable, Mark R. Stackable (Karen), Jessica Stackable, Dustin Stackable (Ariel), Elizabeth Stackable, and Douglas Stackable; two sisters, Sylvia Glendening and Virginia Smith (Ralph); several grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Miner officiating.
