MAYSVILLE — James Eugene "Pop" Stahl, 96, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center.
James was born on May 12, 1929, in Mason County, to the late William J. Stahl and the late Winifred "Winnie" Ryan Stahl.
He was a St. Patrick graduate and a devout Catholic who never missed Mass. James was employed at Browning Manufacturing for over 40 years. Traveling was a joy for him, with some of his favorite memories being a trip to Hawaii and Ireland. He was an avid golfer and a UK basketball fan.
Survivors include his children Jim Joe (Mary Lou) Stahl of Cincinnati, Judy (Chuck) Bruns of Williamsburg, Ohio, Mike (Sharon) Stahl of Lexington, and Maria (Jeff Silva) Stahl of Pensacola Beach, Fla.; brother Fanny Stahl; sister, Winifred "Winis" Wenz; daughters-in-law, Karen Stahl and Monica Stahl: a special caretaker, Quinn Corde; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine Ryan Stahl; sons, Johnny Stahl, Jeff Stahl and Pat Stahl; brother William "Bucky" Stahl; sisters, Marion Martin and Nellie McNamara; and a daughter-in-law, Debra Stahl.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at St. Patrick Church, with Rev. Joseph Gallenstein as Celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, at Brell and Son Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m., with vigil prayers at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Hope, Maysville.

James was my basketball coach back in the mid 1950. He would stop at church on his way to work and stop by the church on his way home.
