James A. Stetson

James A. (Jimmy) Stetson, of Bridgewater, age 69, died peacefully on June 18th after a courageous battle with cancer. Jimmy was the loving son of the late Charles and Lucille (Cormier) Stetson, growing up in the town of Avon.
He was a graduate of Avon High School and would meet the love of his life at Mr. Donuts in 1972 in Brockton. Jimmy and Nancy dated for many years before marrying on June 7, 1980. He was a talented man who built his own house, installed and cleared land for an in-ground pool, and could easily handle most construction or home projects. He worked in the construction and roofing fields for over forty years and would spend his "retirement" driving a school bus for Lucini Bus Company which he truly enjoyed.
When Jimmy was a young father he was very active with his boys especially with Boy Scout Troop 31 and always enjoyed teaching his kids how to fish and camp. In the summers he would take a week off every year to chaperone the troop on a camping expedition. He had hopes of teaching his grandchildren how to fish when they were older.
Jimmy's hobbies included skeet and target shooting. He also loved his loud western and war movies. Family was an important aspect of Jimmy's life. He loved hosting family gatherings at his pool and having an awesome cookout. Jimmy was known on the yard sale circuit as a guy who could always find a bargain. He enjoyed "haggling" over a few dollars and then fixing whatever he bought, be it a small engine or an old lamp, and then giving it away to family and friends.
Jimmy was the loving husband of Nancy (Hermanson) Stetson of West Bridgewater, devoted father of Ryan J. Stetson and his wife Rebecca (Avery) of East Bridgewater and Keith Stetson of West Bridgewater. Proud "Grandpa" of Thea and Callum, providing him with incentive and strength. Predeceased by the late Paul and Dennis Stetson. Also survived by many loving nieces, a nephew and friends.
