Sadler-Suess Funeral Home & Crematory - TelfordJames L. Stover, 99, “Hatfield Jimmy” formerly of Hatfield, PA, passed away on Friday March 27, 2026, in the skilled nursing unit of the Lutheran Community at Telford. He was the husband of the late Elaine (Claussen) Stover who died in 2017.
Born in Harleysville, PA, he was a son of the late Howard and Mattie B. (Landis) Stover.
Mr. Stover was employed as an assistant supervisor in the former Royal Pants Factory, Perkasie, PA, where he had worked for over 12 years, prior to his retirement in 1988. Prior to that James had owned and operated the former Hatfield Slacks Company. James also worked at the former Hatfield Clothing Company for over 30 years.
Mr. Stover was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Telford, where he served on the church council. He was also a member of the former Grace Lutheran Church, Hatfield. James was also a life member of the Hatfield Fire Company. He also served on the Hatfield Sewer Authority, as well as the Hatfield Historical Society. In his free time, James enjoyed spending time in his garden, doing lawn work or working on his cars. If he wasn’t outside, James could be found watching baseball, football or enjoying NASCAR races, or perhaps he could be found at the former R&S Keystone Diner enjoying the company of those friends he met there.
James is survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Elaine, James was preceded in death by his sister Bertha Luxton, two infant brothers as well as brothers, Edwin, Raymond and Nelson Stover. James was also preceded in death by a stepsister Margaret Tyson.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 107 West Lincoln Avenue, Telford Pa, 18969. Family will receive friends from 10-11 AM prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Hatfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at the above address.
