Growing up in Starkville was a privilege and boundless fun... especially when friends included the Strange family. I recall playing in their backyard on Gillespie St. They had the best swing set in town. That play turned into wiffle ball games in their front yard on Hwy 389, swimming pool races out back, and late night loud music in the basement. Yes, all basement events included Thad's famous popcorn! "... kind, loving, generous and thoughtful..." I remember those attributes well! Like many others, I was a beneficiary. My vehicle always had something that needed fixed or improved. I never asked for help. Thad simply took the initiative and the time. He was brilliant and creative. I recall him installing a device, self-built, that allowed the driver to pull a hidden lever under the vehicle's seat (old International pickup truck). When you did, it sounded like the Indy 500! I can see his huge smile right now after we tested it for the first time! I also vividly remember listening to his beautiful Mom tell funny stories and always offering some much needed guidance. My deepest sympathy to all of Thad's family. Praying that many wonderful memories will soon replace the grief. Thanks for all the great times. RIP Thad.
