James Sudol Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glenville Funeral Home - Glenville on Dec. 10, 2025.
James E. Sudol passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, at the Fulton Center after a brief illness. James was born on May 3, 1943, in Rome, New York, to the late Edward T. Sudol and Frances T. Sudol. James graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in Rome, NY, in May 1962, then served a three-year stint in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Ida Mowers, on August 14, 1965, and they moved to Fonda, NY, in 1970 to raise their family.
He had a lifelong love of professional baseball and took great joy in collecting rare baseball memorabilia. One of his favorite traditions was visiting the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, every year with his wife and family-a trip his family all looked forward to and will always cherish.
James was predeceased by his parents, his sister Joanne Sudol Bentz, his wife Ida M. Sudol, and his daughter Michele O'Brien. James is survived by his son James E. Sudol Jr. of Rome, NY; nine grandchildren, Amelia Sudol of Fredonia, NY; Giovanna Sudol of Long Island, NY; Jessica O'Brien of Atlanta, GA; Devin (Amanda) O'Brien of Gloversville, NY; Matthew O'Brien of Lake George, NY, Nick Sitts of Port Kent, NY, Dominic Fisher of Fayetteville, GA, Georgia, Brianna Brown of Peachtree, GA, and Brandi (John) Simonds of Gainesville, GA; a nephew Mark Bentz of Amsterdam; and his legal guardian Kris (Shawn) McMore of Scotia.
The family would like to thank the Fulton Center for taking such good care of James for the past few years.
Funerals arrangements are under the care of Glenville Funeral Home located at 9 Glenridge Road, Scotia, New York. Funeral Services will be announced at a later date.
