Sonja E. Danese Jr

Sonja E. Danese Jr, 57, a resident of Schenectady, NY, passed away at home on February 10, 2026. Born on September 28, 1968, she was a graduate of Albany High School.

Sonja was a woman of many passions, embracing life with a joyful and artistic spirit. She loved painting, macrame and various creative crafts to make for her friends. She shared an unwavering bond with her dog Yogi, who was her steadfast companion. She also adored her cat Sammy, and her fish. Sonja loved to garden and looked forward to watching her plants grow from seeds each spring. Birds and butterflies were important parts of her garden as well.

Sonja's warmth extended to her professional life. She worked at various beauty salons, where she was a talented and artistic manicurist building long lasting friendships with her clients. Her caring demeanor resonated with many, touching the lives of her customers at Bruegger's Bagels.

Above all, Sonja treasured her son, Dane Danese, in whom she found her greatest joy and deepest pride. Her legacy of love, creativity, and kindness lives on through Dane, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Sonja (Kalgraff) Danese Otterness, and her brother, Mark.

A calling period for Sonja will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 11am to 12 pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A funeral service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home.
