James “Jim” Calvin Sullivan, age 71, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on December 27, 2023, after a long battle with heart disease. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on July 8, 1952, to Roy Lee Richard Sullivan and Maxine Wathan.
After graduating from Southeast High School in 1971, Jim joined the United States Marine Corps and pursued a career as a firefighter and EMT. In 1980 he met Celeste Clarkson, and they were married in 1981. They were blessed with two children, James “Brandon” and Whitnie.
Jim was a graphic design artist, and he patented “plex art” in the 90s. He also built sailboats. After retiring in 1998, Jim spent his time watching OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys football games. He enjoyed countless hours with his friends and family, and he acted as a second dad to most of Brandon’s friends. In his last few years, Jim took care of Brandon and Lindsay’s dog, Bear, and they became inseparable buddies.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Maxine; three brothers, Pete, Billy Ray and Jerry.
Jim is survived by his son, James “Brandon” Sullivan and wife, Lindsay, of Shawnee, OK; daughter, Whitnie Sullivan and Sean Beuchamp of Shawnee, OK; 3 grandkids, Alex Smith, EJ Wilson and Brixton Sullivan; nephew, PJ Sullivan and wife, Chantee, of Montgomery, Texas; 2 nieces, Amber Sullivan and Ashley Sell and husband, Harry, both of Oklahoma City, OK; other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, 2:00 pm, at The Grove on Union, 3900 N. Union Ave., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74804.
