Sweig, James W. (Jim)
86 of Gilbert , AZ, passed away on November 30, 2017 surrounded by family. James was married in 1957 to Jeri Jene West. He began his career at the Valley National Bank where he retired after 30 years of service as an Assistant Vice President. In the late 1950's, Jim and Jeri became members of a small Episcopal congregation that met in a Phoenix storefront. This eventually became St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Phoenix. In 1964, as Treasure of the church, Jim assisted with the build at the current church location. Jim loved the Green Bay Packers, baseball, ASU sports and spending time at his cabin in Forest Lakes. Jim is survived by his daughter Valerie, his son James C. and his wife Penny, and two grandchildren Amanda and Courtney. He is preceded in death by his wife Jeri. Visitation will take place Tuesday evening, December 5, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM at the Legacy Funeral Home, 1374 N. Arizona Ave. Chandler, AZ. Services will be held the following morning, Wednesday at 9:00 AM at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 901 W. Erie St. Chandler, AZ. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Lund Home, Hospice of the Valley, 1982 E. Woodside Court, Gilbert, AZ. and the Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. or on-line.
