James Taylor of Caney, Oklahoma passed on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born on Friday, September 19, 1930 in Caddo, Oklahoma to Erma Leigh (Holman) and Alvin Jesse Taylor.

He married Ima Jean (Miller) on May 20, 1950 in El Dorado, Oklahoma and they were married for 70 loving years. He was an active member and deacon of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Caney, Oklahoma.

James liked being outdoors and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a hard worker and enjoyed farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents Erma Leigh (Holman) and Alvin Jesse Taylor; beloved wife Ima Jean (Miller) Taylor; and sister Francille Hampton.

Survivors include his sons Dennis Taylor and wife Janet of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Randy Taylor and wife Mary Jo of Durant, Oklahoma, Mark Taylor and wife Pam of Wilburton, Oklahoma; daughter Cherryl McGuire and husband Jim of Edmond, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as other extended family and friends.

A family visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 3024 Mt. Carmel Road in Caney, Oklahoma. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM with Bro. Dennis Taylor officiating. A graveside service will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma. The grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers along with friends Joe Thomas and Allan Weger.
