In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Thackston is survived by his children, Courtney Thackston, Crissy Mullinax, Shane Mulinax (Katelyn); grandchildren, Gabby Stansberry, Bryden Stansberry; sister, Mary Thackston; brother-in-laws, Edward Harris, Jackie Harris, Ricky Harris Sr.(Vickie) nieces, Crystal Waddell (Austin), Jessica Henson, Andy Turner, Michelle Turner; nephew, Ricky Harris Jr.(Jessica); aunt, Lavern Turner; great-nephew. Robbie Webber;, a host of nieces and nephews, and best friends, Mike Harris and Joe Emery.
In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by his grandparents, Boyce V. Gardner Sr. and Edith Gardner; as well as Grandpa and Johnnie Thackston, two aunts, three uncles and a grandson, Adain Stansberry.
A visitation for Mr. Thackston will be held Tuesday, January 6th, 2026 at Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney, from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
